So, we went Salsa dancing today.
ha.I thought I'd be a natural. (why exactly I thought this, I don't know. I'm pathetic when it comes to dancing. I don't have a single natural 'dancing bone' in my body.)
So, we went dancing.Imagine the scenario.
10 women, 3 men. 1 instructor who's in love with himself.
The instructor decides that he's going to rotate the men around.
Methinks, 'Nope. That's not cool I brought my man with me for a reason.'*
Instructor tells us to practice steps by ourselves.
wtf man. see * above.

er... where's the 4? What do you mean, "There is no 4?"
A 6-8 count?
You know, I'm a mathematician. And I still don't know what you mean.
And here I thought i was in for an evening of fun.
"Salsa dancing," they said. "Great Fun," they said.
ha.ha ha.
I threw death glares at the instructor.
"Thanks for making me dance by myself. It kinda defeats my purpose for being here ... have fun with partner and dance. Instead, I'm leery of guys getting too close to me on the swirl."We came home and practiced. Too many things that didn't make sense on the dance floor became clear. I don't know why we're paying this guy to dance with himself and show off.
I don't know.But I'll go back on wednesday, cause I'm not a loser. We'll see what I have to say then.

Doesnt know what he's talking about - 6/8 time = 6 beats per measure, each of them represented by an eighth of a note - Salsa is not 6/8 time! Salsa is actually 8/8 time. The one time I went salsa dancing (I don't have a dancing bone in my body either), Pam explained to me that its 1 2 3 (silent 4) 5 6 7 (silent 8), which helped me find some amount of rhythm, however little. Musically, that's (eighth) x 3, (quarter), repeat.
Anyway, I commiserate.

yup. figuring out that the 4 was silent took me all class.
I will not give up. next class is today.
I hope the second lesson was better ! It ' s sure to dance well an abandon is necessary . So you used well the learning at home

Yesterday I had a thought for you in hearing the awful attacks in India . What a pity !
You ask me the places I like for wine : Alsace ( Eguisheim ) , Bourgogne ( Epineuil ) , Touraine , Champagne ( Merrey sur Ource ) and Provence ( Lédenon ) ! . And of course Bordeaux but we go rarely in this area .

My friend used the term 6-8 count in trying to explain the beat to me.. he did mention that it wasn't right. But I guess the term just stuck in my mind.

Yeah, I just read this and thought of explaining the 123(pause)567 thing.. I entered the specific Salsa course just for 3 months, but ended up going on with it. I do like it and i hope you end up enjoying as well. Guess that by now you already know why it is nice to switch partners, right?
